I was sworn in to my department in December '82 so I believe I purchased it within plus or minus one month of 12/15/82 (most likely minus, or Nov. '82). The serial number is 250XXX. In 1962 the serial number was in the C5xxxxx or C6xxxxx range. If in fact your serial number is just five digits (70837) than that "o" may well be a "D".
