The rocks will always spawn, where the metal nodes take their sweet arsed time. I realize this is more of a work around rather than a Fix.. [] but in my case my base is off the coast and up a river .. its faster to farm a load of ore this way than it is for me to fly to the volcano, search, farm, and fly back.
