the difference between a d104 and a handheld are small but noticable, the handheld uses a much smaller capture area but its still not made to be used up to your mouth, 8"-16" away i have noticed works best. a desk 104 has a huge capture area, and need 12"-20" for best sound. never eat the mic unless its a noise canceling. However, I also have a Realistic TRC432 base CB with a mic conversion plug for four pin to realistic which works well with other four pin mics. Problem is, the Astatic doesnt want to work with the Realistic CB. Considered by many to be one of the coolest looking communications mics ever made. This one is completely original. As you can see by the pics, all badges, tags, & stickers on both the mic and batter-powered base are intact.  Working condition is unknown so being sold as described.$175.00. Put the D104 at maybe 30% as mentioned. With a power meter connected to the radio and using a 1kHz tone fed into the mic (mobile phone app will do) at a normal speaking volume, up the mic gain on the radio until you get max output power.
