It is described in Ruth's "War Baby" Vol. 2 and I found this photo on the Internet, showing the Breech Cover. It appears to be a Post WWII War/Korea accessory. Then scroll the menu that appears on the left of the next screen to Commercial Carbines and click. Go to the next left side menu and click on Companies and Carbines. This will take you to the commercial makers where you will find Springfield Armory. The bolt has the wear I would expect from a good amount of use, but the rest of the receiver, barrel, slide and trigger group have very little wear. In fact, the trigger group looks almost brand new. I read somewhere that some of these M1's were sandblasted during the rebuild process. If that's true, it's a shame. Really takes away …
