After ESS ceased working, dealer warranty replaced main battery at (nearly) exactly 3 years after build date. (Jeep at sat on lot for ~ 1/2 year before I bought it w/ 28 miles; guess a stripped MT Rubicon wasn't popular ). Aux battery still seems ok now 5+ years after build. Probably getting close.
2020 JL 2.0. Main battery died last week, and changed it and the aux (at 3 years anyways). Utilized the "removing PDC" route for aux replacement. Job went fine and cranked right up. Took a drive with no issues. Shut down for the night. Went to crank it this morning and it turned over but would not fire. Checked codes. And electric motor that runs with the big belt to add torque, power assist and reduces winding rpm up. Braking regenerates the 48v battery.
