Aug 28, 2017 · 704 posts · Joined 2016. #6 · Aug 29, 2017. an oil pressure test will tell if it has proper oil pressure, i would change oil and look close at oil for crap in the oil, when hondamatic bearing goes it does squeal and make a grinding noise, usually you see fine metal and plastic in oil.. It gets louder and finally will destroy the hondamatic.

The 500 Rubicon you have is basically a Hydrostatic Pump that needs oil pressure. As where the 450 is a clutch with a shift drum. Check the oil pressure.
